introduction of Port ->Marine Information & navigational safety rules ROW Khorramshahr Port Marine Information & navigational safety rules: 1 Khorramshahr Port is connected to Persian gulf via Arvand river .The length of the river from Arvand mouth to the port is 62 miles and to get to the port a River Pilot is required. 2 Due to the Iran-Iraq war remaining wrecks in the river ,navigational safety rules must be regarded.(All the wrecks’ positions will be mentioned). 3 Arvand river is classified as a fresh water river. 4 Khorramshahr port and maritime administration is responsible for :piloting services, acceptance , berthing & unberthing ,the ownership of the quays and port equipment, and finally,as a reference for national & international maritime law enforcement. 5 Along the river there are a lot of fishing nets which can be problematic ,incoming vessels must be careful of them. 6 The maximum low water speed is:4.5 to 5 knots, and high water speed is:3.5 to 4 knots. 7 Except the areas having marine equipment ,quays,dock, and basins, vessels are permitted to sail in the river on the basis of 8 to 10 knots in speed. The permitted speed in Arvand river is :3.5 to 5 knots , provided of course not to damage the marine equipment,or the vessel’s speed must be controlled . 8 Round-the-clock piloting services. 9 Incoming vessels have to declare their arrival (by the ship’s agent) at least 48 hours in advance. 10 All vessels have to call Be-sat radio station for piloting services through channel (16),this must be done, about 3.5 to 4 hours prior to get to Arvand mouth .
